The second to last game of the regular season was filled with touchdowns for Foothill and San Ramon Valley High

By Ryan Mahoney, SRVHS senior

San Ramon Valley hosted Foothill on Friday, Nov. 1st.

Foothill started strong, scoring a touchdown on their opening possession but the rest of the first quarter belonged to the Wolves and Marcus De La Pena.

De La Pena scored 3 first quarter touchdowns with 86 yards and helped San Ramon establish a  21-7 lead at the end of the first.

After two passing touchdowns the Wolves were up 34-7 with only a few minutes left before the end of the first half. What may have been the longest minute of high school football, filled with penalties and timeouts, the Falcons were able to score and make a dent in the Wolves' lead 34-14 at half.

San Ramon Valley forced five first-half turnovers, four of them fumbles.

The third quarter did not go San Ramon's way; multiple penalties of 10 or more yards made it difficult to sustain offensive drives and force defensive stops.

The fourth quarter included two big plays back-to-back. San Ramon Valley's defense scored on a 100-yard interception for a touchdown. The following play, Foothill scored on a 95 kickoff return making the score 54-28 with 9:30 left in the fourth.

On the following drive, the snap was over Quarterback Zack Baker's head, leading Foothill to recover for a 11-yard touchdown.

With 9 minutes left, San Ramon lead 54-35.

After two drives by the Wolves trying to run the clock, Foothill was able to score with 48 seconds left leading to the final score: San Ramon 54, Foothill 42.

San Ramon Valley Wolves (5-4, 4-1) will host their cross town rivals the Monte Vista Mustangs on 11/8 at 7 PM. It will also be the Wolves' senior night.
Foothill (7-2, 3-2) hosts Amador Valley (5-4, 2-3) at 7 PM.
