The review meeting for the Danville Hotel territory Redevelopment Project on July 25 moved plans forward for the ultimate demolition, restoration and building of the city block.

The plans, which preserves and restore the Danville Hotel and McCauley House, calls for the demolition of over 14,000 square feet of the existing frontier-inspired structures to be replaced with 34,585 square feet of residential, retail and restaurant space.

Thursday's meeting lasted all of four hours and allowed both the Design Review Board and the Historic Design Review Board to survey 3-dimensional digital renderings of the project plans, from building materials and colors to pedestrian walkways.

The design review carefully combed through the architectural details and offered input to the design team, which "accepted a lot of changes," Castle Companies developer Thomas Baldacci said.

From here, the company will work on the suggested changes and hope to submit building plans to the town by the end of August. Demolition could be set for early October if all goes as expected, said Baldacci.
