UPDATE: William Schramm of Alamo Killed After Crashing Into Power Pole

The driver hit a power pole and died at the scene.

A man killed in a solo-vehicle crash near Alamo early this morning has been identified as an Alamo man, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

The driver, identified by the coroner's office as 24-year-old William Schramm, drove off the road into a power pole on Stone Valley Road near Roundhill Drive around 2:05 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was about a mile from Interstate Highway 680.

Schramm was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal crash shut down both directions of Stone Valley Road.

One person was fatally injured in a solo vehicle collision just off of Interstate Highway 680 in Contra Costa County this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A nearby resident who heard the collision on Stone Valley Road, less than a mile from I-680, reported the collision at about 2:08 a.m., according to the CHP.

The driver of the vehicle struck a power pole on Stone Valley Road, near the intersection of Roundhill Road, according to the CHP.

The driver died of his injuries at the scene, according to the CHP.

The collision has shut down both directions of Stone Valley Road and PG&E is responding to repair the power pole.
