Local Teen Author Releases Eighth Book

BY JANE McINNIS

Danville children's author Paris Morris, 15, will release her eighth book in October for the Halloween season.

The book, "My Twin's First Halloween," is based on Morris family traditions and includes glimpses of the area, including a visit to the Cohn-Stone glass pumpkin patch, located in Richmond.

Paris began writing books when she was 11 years old, and is now a ninth-grader at Monte Vista High.

"I've matured with the books," she said. She admitted she sometimes uses words a young child wouldn't understand, so has to be mindful in her editing.

The books are popular among 3-5 year olds and center around Paris' first-person experience of having to deal with the addition of twins into the family.

Paris' mother is a writer and her father owns the publishing company for the books.

She doesn't have any set plans regarding the future, but she admits she's developed an interest in the business-side of things in the publishing world.

Paris will read her new book at Patelco Credit Union on Hartz Avenue on October 18, and Read Booksellers in Blackhawk on October 26.

"I love reading to the little kids, they're so cute and interested," Paris said.
