Norm's Place Owner Honored as a Woman Entrepreneur of the Year

Cindy Walsh, co-owner of Norm's Place in downtown Danville was honored along with eight fellow female entrepreneurs by the Women's Initiative for Self Employment.

Cindy Walsh, co-owner and founder of Norm’s Place on Hartz Avenue, has many hats she juggles, but she is particularly proud to have been recently recognized for one of her hard-earned hats — successful serial entrepreneur. Walsh received a Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in Contra Costa County award from the Bay Area nonprofit, Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment, on Nov. 14 at an award ceremony held at Round Hill Country Club. Eight other local women were recognized along with Walsh, including Danville’s Tiffany Stuart, founder and president of Dynamic Office & Accounting Solutions, and San Ramon’s Dawn Serpa of Lea Journo Cosmetique. The honor recognizes women entrepreneurs who succeed and innovate despite barriers that exist for women…

Danville Inventor Will Step Into ABC's 'The Shark Tank' Friday Night

Danville's Jason Lucash has accomplished a lot of business success well before his 30th birthday. This Friday he will face a panel of multi-millionaire business celebrities to match wits and pitch his big ideas.

Swimming with the Sharks can be a treacherous business, but Danville entrepreneur Jason Lucash relishes the challenge. Lucash, 27, has traveled the world, launched a company, and seen one of his inventions with business partner, Mike Szymczak, top TIME magazine’s influential annual Top 50 inventions list just a few months after its introduction. Now the partners are poised to take their venture to the next level, and are stepping into ABC’s ‘The Shark Tank,’ this Friday at 8 p.m. Lucash and Szymczak will pitch their innovative line of portable speakers on the hit reality television show, created by executive producer Mark Burnett (who also created "Survivor" and "The Apprentice"), hoping to hook a business “shark” and secure investment …
