John Baldwin Elementary School serves a residential neighborhood in Danville east of 680 in the center of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. The school was established in 1968 and serves grades K-5 and was named after John Finley Baldwin Jr., a six-time member of the House of Representatives. It is among the few public elementary schools in California to receive a distinguished GreatSchools Rating of 10 out of 10. In 2000, it received the California Distinguished School Award. The school colors are blue and gold and the school mascot is the cougar. The current principal is Darlene Hale.
