Fresh at the Farmers' Market: Kiwi

Check out recipes and health benefits of the kiwi fruit.

'Tis the season for kiwi--those round, brown fuzzy fruits packed with vitamin C.

These fiber-rich fruits, originally from China, (now cultivated in California and elsewhere) will be available at the Danville Farmers' Market on Saturday from the Hamlow Ranch & Estrada Produce in Denair.

Kiwi can be added to salsas, salad and even buffalo wings. Check out some recipes on the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market website here.

One large kiwi provides your daily requirement for vitamin C, according to WebMD

Kiwis are a good source of potassium and a decent source of vitamin A and vitamin E, which is one of the missing nutrients, according to an article on WebMD.

You can eat kiwi with a spoon. For absolute vitamin C and fiber from the fruit, you can eat kiwi with the skin on.
