Red Cross 'Pint For Pint' Promotion Kicks Off

Blood donors will receive free ice cream coupons at Red Cross centers throughout the Bay Area.

Bay City News — Starting Monday, Bay Area blood donors will receive a pint of ice cream for donating a pint of blood to the American Red Cross.

The "Pint for Pint" promotion will offer donors at participating blood centers a free coupon for a pint of Baskin-Robbins ice cream, according to the Red Cross.

The promotion, which runs through August, is designed to encourage people to donate blood during a time that Red Cross officials call challenging. Many regular blood donors are away on vacation or busy with other summer plans, but the demand for blood often grows because of increased road and travel-related injuries, officials said.
