Two Basketball Championship Battles Tonight

Monte Vista boys and girls teams take on De La Salle and Carondelet with league titles at stake

Monte Vista High boys and girls basketball teams will both battle teams from Concord on Tuesday evening with league championships on the line.

The Mustang boys team takes on De La Salle High, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Spartan gym.

De La Salle is 18-2 on the season and 7-1 in league play. Their only conference loss was to Monte Vista, 41-40, on Jan. 6. Since then, they have won eight straight.

The Monte Vista boys team is 15-5 and is also 7-1 in league play. Their only conference loss was a surprising 50-46 loss to Amador Valley High on Jan. 10. Since then, they have won six straight.

The Mustang girls team plays at home against Carondelet High. That game also begins at 7 p.m.

Monte Vista is 17-3 overall and 7-1 in league play. Their only conference loss was an 80-30 blowout at the hands of Carondelet on Jan. 6. Since then, they have won six straight.

Carondelet is 16-3 on the season and a perfect 8-0 in league play. They have won four straight since losing a non-league game to St. Mary's High of Stockton on Jan. 16.
