San Ramon Valley Girls Soccer Team Wins Tri-Valley Classic

The Wolves beat James Logan 3-0 in the championship Tuesday.

The  girls soccer team captured the Invitational Division of the Tri-Valley Classic on Tuesday with a 3-0 win against .

The Wolves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute on a goal by Morgan Idso, assisted by Melissa Lewis. Four minutes later Alexa Vandevanter made it 2-0 thanks to an Idso assist.

Goalie Beth Ritter had to make just three saves for the Wolves, who got a second-half goal from Idso to put the game away.

San Ramon entered the week ranked No. 6 in the country in the ESPN Powerade Fab 50 Girls’ Soccer Winter Rankings and improved to 8-0-1 on the season with the win against Logan.

The Wolves are Northern California’s No. 1-ranked team and the No. 2 team in California behind Westview of San Diego.

went 2-0-2 in the tournament with wins against Clayton Valley (1-0) and Bishop Gorman-Nevada (4-0). The Mustangs, which were in the Gold Division, played to a scoreless tie with Scotts Valley on Monday and tied James Logan 2-2.

started the week ranked No. 33 in the country, but went 0-3-1 in the tournament. The Trojans opened with a 5-1 loss to El Camino Real and a 3-3 tie against Bishop Gorman on Monday and followed that with a 3-0 loss to San Ramon and 2-0 defeat to Carondelet on Tuesday.

Aside from its 3-0 loss to San Ramon in the Invitational championship, Logan had a solid showing in the highly-competitive tournament. The Colts recorded wins against Bishop O’Dowd and Cardondelet to go with their tie against Monte Vista.
