The San Francisco 49ers' season ended tonight, in overtime, with a 31-yard field goal. But enough about that.
Danville Patch headed up to a busy , off Prospect, to see what was up. It was a packed house of red and gold jerseys. We found Montana, Young and Smith all represented in the crowd at That Bar, among many others. It was a crowd that came to have a pitcher of beer (or two) and watch some football.
The real action, however, started in the fourth quarter. It was a roller coaster of noise, hands clapping and fans both cheering and swearing at the bar's many televisions.
Unfortunately we can't show you a gallery full of smiling faces, though there are a few in there. It's mostly images of furrowed brows, nervousness and, eventually, grief.
In any event, the 49ers played a tough game had a great season and will be back next year, right?
