Monte Vista Girls Defeat San Ramon Valley For NCS Soccer Title

The Mustangs scored the lone goal in the second half to capture the Division I crown

The Monte Vista High girls soccer team upset number one seeded San Ramon Valley High, 1-0, Saturday evening to become the North Coast Section Division I champions.

With a loss and a tie to the Wolves during the regular season, the second ranked Mustangs made their third meeting count.

After a lackluster first half from both teams, Monte Vista picked up the intensity in the second half.

Their relentless charge paid off with a goal in the 72nd minute by Maddy Gibson, who put the ball in after a deflection by Wolves goalie Beth Ritter.

San Ramon had a tough night, missing two open goals off the goal post. Some outstanding goalkeeping by Ritter prevented a lopsided Mustangs win.

Patch is at the NCS Division I boys soccer game between De La Salle High and San Ramon Valley High on the same field at Dublin High School.

We'll have results and photos from that game as well as photos from the girls game later this evening.
