Here are some of the scores from NCS high school playoff action on Saturday.
DIVISION I
Monte Vista 28 San Leandro 12
Monte Vista High moved into the Division I semifinals with a 28-12 victory over San Leandro High.
The sixth seeded Mustangs held the lead most of the game over the third seeded Pirates.
Monte Vista led 7-6 at half. They scored two third quarter touchdowns to widen their margin to 21-6.
However, San Leandro crossed the goal line in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 21-12 before Monte Vista put the game away with a late touchdown.
Monte Vista is now 8-4. They will meet their cross-town rival, San Ramon Valley High, next weekend. The Mustangs defeated the Wolves, 34-33, in the final regular season game two weeks ago.
San Leandro finishes the season with a 6-5 record.
Pittsburg 28 Berkeley 10
Pittsburg High earned the right to face De La Salle High by defeating Berkeley High, 28-10.
The fifth ranked Pirates got up early on the fourth seeded Yellowjackets, holding a 16-10 lead at halftime.
Pittsburg stretched that margin to 28-10 at the end of the third quarter. The teams played a scoreless fourth quarter.
Pittsburg is now 9-3. They face top seeded De La Salle High next weekend.
Berkeley finishes its season at 7-4.
DIVISION II
Dublin 49 College Park 42 (2 OT)
Dublin High advanced to the next round of the playoffs with an exciting 49-42 win over College Park High in a back-and-forth contest that went into double overtime.
The fifth ranked Gaels had the early advantage in this high-scoring affair, taking a 25-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.
However, fourth seeded College Park struck back for two touchdowns in the third period to take a 35-25 lead.
Dublin tied the game, 35-35, late in the final period to send the contest into overtime. The game was tied 42-42 after the first overtime period before Dublin prevailed.
Dublin is now 8-4. They will take on top seeded Windsor High next weekend.
College Park finishes its season with a 7-5 record.
Rancho Cotate 42 Casa Grande 35
Rancho Cotate High outlasted Casa Grande High, 42-35, in a barn burner of a game.
The third seeded Cougars and the sixth ranked Gauchos traded leads throughout the game.
The game was tied 21-21 at half and 28-28 in the third period. Casa Grande held a 35-28 advantage early in the fourth quarter, but Rancho Cotate rallied with two touchdowns in the final period to snatch the victory.
Rancho Cotate is now 9-3 on the season. They will face Concord High next weekend in a rematch of last year's Division II championship game.
Casa Grande finishes with a record of 8-4.
OTHER SCORES
Salesian 35 Valley Christian 7
Salesian High continued its undefeated season as it easily defeated Valley Christian High of Dublin in a Division IV contest this afternoon, 35-7.
Salesian is now 11-0 on the season. They'll face Healdsburg next weekend in that division's semifinals.
Valley Christian finishes the season with a 9-3 record. They had defeated St. Mary's, 42-35, in the first round.
