San Leandro boys defeat Castro Valley while Foothill boys upset California in overtime and Monte Vista girls defeat Granada

BOYS

San Leandro 58  Castro Valley 49

San Leandro High traveled to Castro Valley High and defeated the defending league champions, 58-49.

The Pirates led throughout much of the game before Castro Valley came back to tie it early in the fourth quarter. However, San Leandro pulled away after that for the victory.

Trojans' senior guard Dawson Johnson led all scorers with 28 points.

San Leandro High is now 12-2 on the season and 4-1 in league play. They've won six out of their past seven games.

Castro Valley is 9-4 overall and 2-2 in league play. They had won six out of their past seven games coming into the contest.

San Lorenzo 76  Tennyson 68

San Lorenzo High won its second straight game by downing Tennyson High, 76-68.

San Lorenzo is now 8-7 overall and 4-1 in league. They have won three of their past four games.

Moreau Catholic 60  Arroyo 49

Moreau Catholic High outlasted Arroyo High, 60-49.

Arroyo is now 3-11 on the season and 0-4 in league play.

EBAL

Foothill 59  California 56 (OT)

Foothill High surprised California High, defeating the Grizzlies, 59-56, in overtime.

The Falcons trailed by 13 points entering the fourth quarter but put on a furious comeback to tie the game at the end of regulation.

Foothill is now 6-10 on the season and 2-2 in league. They've won two in a row.

California is now 9-7 overall and 3-1 in league. They had won three straight.

Monte Vista 69  Granada 51

Monte Vista High bounced back from their upset loss to Amador Valley High on Tuesday night to defeat Granada High, 69-51.

The Mustangs led most of the way and pulled away in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Monte Vista is now 10-5 on the season and 3-1 in league play. They have won six of their past seven games.

Granada falls to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in league. The Matadors had now lost two in a row after having won nine of their previous 10 games.

Amador Valley 57  San Ramon Valley 45

Amador Valley High used a strong start to record an important league victory by downing San Ramon Valley High, 57-45. 

The Dons led 33-20 at half, then keep the Wolves at bay in the second half to preserve the victory.

Amador Valley is now 10-6 overall and 2-2 in league play.

San Ramon Valley is 6-10 overall and 1-3 in league play.

De La Salle 60  Livermore 35

De La Salle High cruised to a 60-35 victory over Livermore High.

The Spartans started off strong, building a 15-4 advantage in the first period and led 30-19 at half. They outscored the Cowboys 16-6 in the third quarter to put the game on ice.

De La Salle is now 12-2 for the season and 3-1 in league play. They've won seven of their past eight games.

Livermore falls to 5-10 overall and 0-4 in league. They have lost five straight.

DFAL

Campolindo 75  Las Lomas 57

Campolindo High rolled past Las Lomas High, 75-57.

The game was tied 17-17 at the end of the first quarter. Campolindo led by eight points at half and put the game away with a strong third quarter.

Campolindo is now 13-2 on the season and 3-0 in league play.

Las Lomas drops to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in league. The Knights have lost two straight after winning their previous five games.

DVAL

Concord 64  Ygnacio Valley 19

Concord High crushed winless Ygnacio Valley High, 64-19.

The Minutemen led 38-13 at the half and held Ygnacio Valley to six points in the second half.

Concord is now 12-5 overall and 3-1 in league play. The defending league champions have now won six of their past seven games.

Ygnacio Valley falls to 0-16 for the season and 0-3 in league play.

GIRLS

DFAL

Miramonte 72  Dougherty Valley 69

Dougherty Valley High came close to pulling off the upset of the week but eventually fell to undefeated Miramonte High, 72-69.

The Wildcats led 36-24 in the second quarter and still led with five minutes left in the game. However, Miramonte came back and took the lead for good with 1:31 left in the game.

Miramonte is 16-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Dougherty Valley is now 9-7 overall and 2-1 in league.

Campolindo 68  Las Lomas 45

Campolindo High evened its record on the year by defeating Las Lomas High, 68-45.

The Cougars held a commanding 23-5 lead after the first period and never looked back. The Knights played Campolindo pretty evenly after that opening quarter, but couldn't overcome that early deficit.

Campolindo is now 7-7 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Las Lomas is 8-10 overall and 0-4 in league. They have lost five in a row.

DVAL

Northgate 53  Berean Christian 48

Northgate High surprised Berean Christian, 53-48, to keep their unbeaten league record.

The Broncos jumped out early, building a 30-19 halftime lead. The Eagles chipped away in the second half but couldn't quite make up the deficit.

Northgate is now 8-8 on the season and 3-0 in league.

Berean Christian slips to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in league.

Clayton Valley 57  Mt. Diablo 16

Clayton Valley High cruised past Mt. Diablo High, 57-16, for their third straight victory.

The Eagles had no trouble with Mt. Diablo, which never scored more than six points in any quarter in this game.

Clayton Valley is now 7-10 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Mt. Diablo falls to 2-12 overall and 0-4 in league. They have lost 10 in a row.

Concord 58  Ygnacio Valley 36

Concord High cruised past winless Ygnacio Valley High, 58-36.

Concord is now 7-11 overall and 2-2 in league play.

Ygnacio Valley is now 0-13 on the season and 0-3 in league.

EBAL

Monte Vista 45  Granada 37

Monte Vista High used strong defense to defeat Granada High, 45-37, in an important league match.

In the low-scoring contest, Monte Vista led 13-8 at the half. The two teams each scored 16 points in the third quarter before the Mustangs inched away during the final period.

Monte Vista is now 13-3 overall and 3-1 in league play. They've won eight of their past nine games.

Granada falls to 12-4 overall and 2-2 in league play. They've dropped their past two games.

Foothill 54  California 47

Foothill High staged a strong second half comeback to defeat California High, 54-47.

The Falcons trailed 31-20 at half, but they outscored California 34-16 in the second half to snatch the victory.

Foothill is now 7-9 overall and 2-2 in league play.

California is 6-10 on the season and 2-2 in league.

Carondelet 87  Livermore 33

Carondelet High continued to mow down its league opponents as it crushed Livermore High, 87-33, on Friday night.

The Cougars led 28-7 after the first period and cruised the rest of the way. They held Livermore to just one point in the fourth quarter.

Carondelet is now 12-2 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Livermore is 9-7 on the season and 2-2 in league. They had won three of their previous four coming into this game.

HAAL

Castro Valley 65  San Leandro 37

Castro Valley High rolled past San Leandro High, 65-37, for their seventh straight win.

The Trojans jumped out to a 36-13 halftime lead and cruised the rest of the way.

Castro Valley is now 10-4 overall and 4-1 in league play.

San Leandro is 1-15 overall and 1-5 in league.

Moreau Catholic 52  Arroyo 41

Moreau Catholic High jumped out to an early lead and defeated Arroyo High, 52-41.

Moreau Catholic led 24-16 at halftime and 41-26 after three periods.

Arroyo falls to 7-8 overall and 1-5 in league play.
