San Ramon Valley High traveled a few miles down 680 S. to play the California High Grizzlies on Friday, Oct. 25.
On the opening possession, the Wolves drove down the field scoring a touchdown answered by the Grizzlies with their own touchdown, tying the score 7-7.
With a minute left to go in the first quarter Wolves quarterback, Matt Winakerran 44 yards for a touchdown.
San Ramon was ahead at the end of the first, 14-7.
In the second quarter, momentum swung to California. At the end of first half the grizzles were ahead 14-21. With a long drive Cal scored on a 4 yard run adding to their lead 14-28 with just under 7 minutes remaining in the third.
Cal took advantage of San Ramon's failed fourth down conversion and scored another touchdown making it 14-35 with under 3 minutes left in the game. The Wolves went to their two minute offense and Winaker was able to connect with Marcus De La Pena for a last minute touchdown.
Final: California 35, San Ramon Valley 21.
San Ramon Valley (4-4, 3-1) will play at Foothill (7-1, 3-1) at 7 P.M. on Friday.
California (7-1, 5-0) will play at Livermore (2-6, 0-4) at 7 P.M. on Friday.
