Tri-Valley Teens to Compete in National Cup Soccer Finals in North Carolina

The players are from Danville, Alamo, Pleasanton and Livermore.

The World Cup may be over, but a local Mustang Soccer team is preparing for their chance at a national spotlight.

Mustang Inter, the Division 1 Under-17 boys’ team, has earned a chance to compete in the National Cup Finals in Greensboro, North Carolina. The team qualified by winning the US Club Soccer Western Regional tournament in June defeating the SMC Stars in the final 4-1.

The 4-day tournament begins July 18. It is a busy summer for these 17-year-olds.

Upon their return, Inter will be competing in Surf Cup in San Diego and the Santa Clara Sporting Invitational in the South Bay. A majority of the players have been playing together for the last 3 years and are excited about their opportunities to play against teams from across the country.

Players hail from East Bay communities including Danville, Alamo, Pleasanton and Livermore: Juan Carlos Bugarin, Scott Buskey, Joe Coliton, Jake Foscalina, Simon Fuentes, Kevin Hanan, Matt Labrie, Micheal Maul, Nigel McIntosh, Arman Mogharei, Joe Oswald, Alejandro Pelayo, Chris Scatterday, Kalle Sjogrell, Cole Souza, Riley Struck, Gabe Thurner and Zach Virgilio.

The team is coached by Chip Brown. Good luck Inter!
