There will be a couple of medals coming from London to Danville, the only question now is the color.
Danville's Maggie Steffens scored four times, including the game-winner in extra time, and Jessica Steffens scored once as the United States beat Australia 11-9 in the Olympic Games women's water polo semifinals in London on Tuesday.
Maggie and Jessica Steffens and the rest of the U.S. team will play Spain for the gold medal match on Thursday at noon local time.
The match with the Australians was close throughout, with neither side leading by more than two goals.
Maggie scored her first goal on a long distance shot in the second quarter to give the Americans a 6-4 lead.
She struck again in the third quarter, scoring on a pass from sister Jessica to make it 7-5.
After the Australians scored to get within one, Maggie made it a hat trick with a goal with 4:29 left.
It looked like the Americans were going to hold on for the victory, but in the final second Australia's Ash Southern scored on a penalty to tie the match at nine.
But Maggie scored one more in the extra period to regain the advantage for the U.S. The Americans would add one more to secure their place in the gold medal match.
Steffens, who is 19 and a grad, has now scored a tournament-leading 16 goals.
