Danville Rugby Team Participates in Sacramento Tournament

The Danville Oaks Rugby Club participated in the 28th Annual Sacramento Area Youth Rugby Kickoff Tournament this weekend.

The 28th Annual Sacramento Area Youth Rugby Kickoff Tournament was this weekend and Danville represented.

More than 130 teams competed in the tournament in Rancho Cordova, including the Danville Oaks Rugby Club. The Sacramento Bee put together a photo gallery of the event.

The tournament pulls in more than 2,500 students, ranging from 10 to 19 years old and most of those who participate from the greater Sacramento area.

CBS Sacramento talked with a few of the kids participating in the tournament and discusses what rugby is: A cross between football and soccer, one coach says.
