Two San Ramon Valley School District Teachers Named County Teacher of the Year Finalists

Of the 22 Contra Costa County Teacher of the Year nominees, two came from the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and both were named finalists for the annual award Wednesday.

Nicholas Zefeldt, a fifth grade teacher at Live Oak Elementary School, and Cindy Egan, a biology and AP environmental science teacher at San Ramon Valley High, were named finalists with two others. 

Two Teachers of the Year will be announced in September and will represent Contra Costa County in the California State Teacher of the Year Program.

In August the four finalists will give  a three- to five-minute speech to a panel of a dozen educators, business, and public-sector representatives who will judge the finalists on their speech and presentation skills.

The other finalists are Beth Levine, a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Montalvin Manor Elementary in San Pablo and Carissa Sugden,  a fifth grade teacher at El Monte Elementary in Concord.
