Teachers and District Reach Tentative Agreement on Salary Increase

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District and San Ramon Valley Education Association (SRVEA) announced a tentative agreement related to collective bargaining for the 2013-14 school year.

The agreement includes a salary increase for teachers and other SRVEA members of 4% effective January 1, 2014. The agreement, which was ratified by SRVEA membership on March 10th, was approved by the Board of Education Tuesday evening.

“We are extremely fortunate to have an incredible teaching staff in our district, and the new agreement will help us to remain competitive in recruiting and retaining great teachers,” said Superintendent Mary Shelton.

Last year, the District provided employees with a one-time payment of 4%. This year’s agreement reflects a 4% increase on the Salary Schedule.  “The last time we were able to provide an increase on the salary schedule was 2007-08. It has been a long drought for our employees who work hard every day on behalf of the children in this district, said Shelton”

“This is good news for teachers in our district and reinforces how valuable they are to our education community,” said Ann Katzburg, SRVEA’s President. “The past seven years have been difficult times for everyone. We are thrilled to see the financial tide beginning to change.”

Negotiations are scheduled over the next few weeks with the three Classified Bargaining Units, and the district is confident that a timely agreement will be reached.
