High School Football Playoffs: Monte Vista, San Ramon Valley Begin Quests

The Mustangs take on Pittsburg while the Wolves battle Antioch

Both Danville high school football teams begin their NCS Division I playoff runs on Friday night.

Both squads will be at home for evening games against visiting teams from eastern Contra Costa County.

Monte Vista High will take on 9th ranked Pittsburg High. The 8th ranked Mustangs were 6-1 at one time this season, but they lost their last three regular season games to finish 6-4.

Pittsburg is 7-3 so far this season. They have won their past three games.

San Ramon Valley High will battle 13th ranked Antioch High. The 4th ranked Wolves are 5-5 on the season, but they have won two of their past three games, including upset victories over Foothill High and Monte Vista.

Antioch is 6-4 on the season. They've lost four of their past five games.

Sorry folks... the Monarchs were the mascot from the Monte Vista High in my hometown. I had a brain freeze. This has been corrected.
