About 98 Percent of San Ramon Valley 10th Graders Pass Exit Exam
Tenth graders in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District scored significantly higher than other student in the county and state.
About 49 of 50 sophomores in the passed their California high school exit exam, according to the district.
Last spring, over 2,200 10th graders at SRVUSD high schools took the exam that addressed state academic standards for english/language arts and mathematics.
Ninty-eight percent of those students passed the english/language arts section and 99 percent of students passed the Mathematics section.

According to statewide results, 84 percent passed the test in both sections, while 86 percent of students passed the english/language arts and 85 percent passed the math section in Contra Costa County.
State law requires that all public school students pass the exit exam as a high school diploma requirement.
“We are very pleased with these results, but will continue to focus on helping the small number of students who need additional help to pass the test and ultimately graduate,” Superintendent Mary Shelton said.

Students not passing the high school exam have more opportunities to pass in their 11th and 12th grade years. Statewide, district and school results can be found on the California Department of Education website here.
