There still aren't a lot of homes for sale in the Bay Area and the ones that are on the market continue to cost more.

A report released this week by DataQuick showed that home sales in the Bay Area were down 12 percent in December from the previous December.

It also showed that the median price paid for a Bay Area home last month was $548,500, a 24 percent increase over December 2012. The price was slightly lower than the median sale price in November.

With that in mind, we thought we'd take another look at the most expensive homes for sale in the region.

In Dublin, this five-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom house at 5682 Avellina Drive is listed at $1.7 million.

In Livermore, this five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom home on 19 acres at 509 E. Vineyard Ave. is listed at $4.8 million.

In Danville, this five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom house on 47 acres at 5945 Bruce Drive is listed at $9.6 million.
