Video: Newest Council Member Sworn-In; Arnerich is Danville's Mayor for 2013

After winning a seat on the council in November, Renee Morgan was sworn-in Tuesday night. Newell Arnerich will continue as the town's mayor.

Most of the night at the Danville Community Center Tuesday was spent honoring the people that have dedicated their time and energy to improve the quality of life for all in Danville.

But to cap the 31st Annual Mayor's Installation and Community Service Awards, the Danville Town Council welcomed its newest member and selected their mayor for 2013.

Renee Morgan, who served on the town's Planning Commission for eight years, was sworn-in to start her first term on Town Council.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the council then unanimously voted to make Newell Arnerich its mayor and Robert Storer its vice-mayor for 2013.

Morgan and incumbents Arenrich and Mike Doyle finished in the top three in November's Town Council election, which featured seven candidates.

Arnerich was the mayor of Danville for the second half of 2012 after Candace Andersen won her election for county supervisor.

He said he plans to make sure the 2030 General Plan, which will likely be voted on next year, will keep Danville the unique place that people love to call home.
