The Town of Danville regrets to announce that due to a water line issue, the water features at Sycamore Valley Park will be closing early for the remainder of the season.
Maintenance Services Director Jed Johnson said that over the past two weeks, maintenance staff has been working to locate a break in the potable water line that serves the amenity.
It was determined this week that the break is beneath the playground structure itself, making it inaccessible without dramatically affecting the playground.
Since the Town’s water features are typically closed for the winter months from October through March, Johnson said the decision was made to close the feature early.
Valves have been installed to keep water to the restrooms in the lower section of the park. During the off-season, crews will reroute the water line in order to fix the problem without removing any of the playground surface or structures.
“While we don’t wish to close the features early, this is the most efficient and cost-effective solution to the situation,” Johnson said.
The water features at other area parks at Hap Magee Ranch, Diablo Vista and Oak Hill Parks will remain open until Sept. 30.
