Town Breaks Ground on Vets Memorial Building Project

Local officials, veterans and residents were among about 100 people who attended a groundbreaking ceremony Friday.

It's official, the $7.7 million Veteran's Memorial Building project is now underway after a groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning attended by about 100 people.

Construction is set to begin on July 5 and last 18 months.

The new veterans building will be a 13,000-square-foot facility that will replace the existing 6,300-square-foot complex.  The two-story portion of the 85-year-old building will be preserved and renovated.  The one-story auditorium will be demolished and replaced by a facility that includes a community hall, classroom, meeting room and office space for the town's seniors programs.
