By Bay City News:
It's time to get bait and fish.
The state Department of Fish and Game will release thousands of trout into more than a dozen Bay Area lakes this month.
The DFG announced it would release more than 30,000 pounds of rainbow trout in Bay Area lakes during December. Some of the fish weigh as much as two pounds, according to the DFG.
In Contra Costa County the lakes include:
- Contra Loma Res.
- Heather Farms Pond
- Hidden Valley Pond
- Lafayette Reservoir
"We want to create opportunities for families to spend quality time together," DFG acting regional manager Scott Wilson said. "Fishing, like many other outdoor pursuits, helps keep people connected to their natural environment," Wilson said.
