VIDEO: Fairgrounds Open to Animals Evacuated for Morgan Fire

The Contra Costa Fairgrounds in Antioch opened their stable doors for livestock and other animals brought in following the Morgan Fire evacuations Sunday night.

The 80-acre Contra Costa Fairgrounds in Antioch is supplying space, food and care for animals that were forced to evacuate following the Morgan fire.

Feed, hoses and other supplies were donated from across the county, and  a dozen volunteers signed up to help the facility with the animals.

Fair manager Robert Williamson said there was plenty of stable room, pens and cages for any livestock or pets in need of a place to stay.

As of Tuesday morning, the facility was open all hours and had received a horse, two ducks, five chickens and four cats.
