No One Hurt in Vehicle Fire on Northbound I-680 Near Alcosta

The fire is out and lanes are reopened.

A vehicle fire blocked lanes of traffic on northbound I-680 near Alcosta Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol.

The fire blocked multiple lanes, but CHP reports at 3 p.m. the fire is out and traffic is normal on the freeway.

CHP says no one was injured and the car was unoccupied when they arrived.

An eyewitness to the fire told Patch, "I was just arriving at the fire when the first highway patrol car did. He was so brave, he ran straight to the car and was trying to break a window. The car was full of smoke and flames ... It was the bravest thing I ever saw."
