Preliminary Hearing Postponed in Michael Vawter Case
The former Cub Scout leader charged with downloading child porn onto his computer was ordered back to court in a month after a minutes-long hearing this morning.
WALNUT CREEK – Michael Vawter, an ex-Cub Scout leader charged with possession of child porn, appeared in court today to delay for another few weeks the date of his preliminary hearing.
The Danville resident was ordered back to court at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 2 for a preliminary hearing, where prosecutors will lay out all the details of the case so a judge can decide if there's enough evidence to take it to trial.
Vawter, who is free on $20,000 bail, arrived this morning to the Walnut Creek Superior Court in a navy blue suit and left right after the short proceeding.
