Police Tale: Finding Teen-age Couple

Police agencies collaborate in tracking 14-year-olds who went missing Wednesday.

There was some good, behind-the-scenes collaborative police work to locate a couple of 14-year-olds — let's call them Romeo and Juliet — who ran off Wednesday and were located on Thursday. Maybe they weren't ready for the school year to begin.

Juliet of Moraga and Romeo of Alamo apparently met up near the theaters in downtown Walnut Creek, and then disappeared. Police located them when one logged onto Facebook at an area library. Maybe they were on Facebook long enough to see that there were friends and family worried about them in Moraga and Alamo.

The police collaboration involved at least four agencies (including the Walnut Creek Police Department), and probably some more who had notices to be on the lookout for these star-crossed teenagers.

On Thursday afternoon, police were giving Romeo and Juliet a lift back to their homes. Police had no comment on what parental punishments were meted out.
