Police Log: Danville Man, 50, Arrested for Allegedly Attempting To Mail Pot Via UPS

Several auto thefts, and more notable incidents encountered April 21 to 27.

A United Parcel Service driver suspected the strong odor from a package he picked up Thursday along his Pleasanton route was marijuana and notified his San Ramon supervisors.

UPS, in turn, notified the Pleasanton Police Department of the suspicious-smelling parcel, which was among several collected along Serpentine Drive and was addressed to an unknown recipient in Columbia, S.C., records state.

And the box's alleged sender, 50-year-old Danville resident George Stauffer, was arrested that evening on Bolton Court, Danville, on two felony counts of suspected possession of marijuana for sale and selling marijuana, police said.
