Pedestrian Hit by Car Dies

The Danville woman who was regularly seen by residents walking along Camino Tassajara passed away on Wednesday.

The 53 year-old woman who was hit crossing the street on Camino Tassajara last week in Danville passed away on Wednesday, the Contra Costa Coroner's office confirmed.

Diana Gregory was struck by a car near Tassajara Lane, about half a mile from her home around 8:45 p.m. August 19.

Although most Danville residents didn't personally know Gregory, many folks recognized the woman with short brown hair who was regularly seen walking for miles at a time.

"She was a staple on Camino Tassjara Road ... Every time I waved she smiled and waved back," a source said.

The driver, Danville resident Samuel Herrick, 50, posted $50,000 in bail last week and was released from the county jail in Martinez. Herrick was arrested in suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury.
