The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Board of Directors named Paige Meyer the new fire chief for the district at its board meeting Wednesday.
Meyer is the fire chief for the City of Vallejo and will transition to the San Ramon Valley job on March 18. He takes over Richard Price, who retired in December.
Meyer has over 20 years of fire experience and has spent the last 15 with the Vallejo Fire Department. He worked his way up through the Vallejo department, going from being a firefighter, to captain, to battalion chief and finally the fire chief.
“Chief Meyer possesses a unique combination of skills,” Board President Matthew J. Stamey said. “He has proven he can lead during economically challenging times and has demonstrated his ability to focus an organization around a core mission in order to best serve the community. We selected an exceptional leader for an exceptional organization.”
