Burglar Makes Himself at Home in Danville — Returning Multiple Times and Even Taking Kid's Piggybank

A Danville resident said his home has been burglarized numerous times, including three times in the night.

A Danville family has been burglarized multiple times, including while they were sleeping, in their California Meadow home since mid-December, Danville police confirmed.

Danville police said they have made an arrest in connection to the burglaries but declined to give details, saying it could affect the investigation.

The homeowner, who asked not to be named because he was concerned about his safety, said other homes in the California Meadows development have been burglarized.

A flier the victim made shows a picture of the suspected burglar inside his home. The photo is dated Feb. 4, with the suspect entering the home at 9:08 a.m. and appearing to leave at 9:58 a.m.

In an email, the victim said:

"On three occasions it has happened at night while we were home asleep. Mostly cash was taken; it was taken out of our wallets while we slept, but he also took our son’s piggy bank. And he took some electronics. On February 4, he was in our home for nearly an hour. He had stolen a house key on a prior visit and used it to access our home at will. After gaining entry he opened an upstairs window slightly so he could listen for approaching cars. Since then we discovered every window in our house had been unlocked to provide possible future access."

If you have information in this case or others in the California Meadows development, call Detective Perry at the Danville Police Department at 925-314-3710.

Get a guard dog or two! This loser would NOT have come to this house if he knew he was going to be greeted with a German Shepard or even a yappy little yorkie! Burglars ARE deterred by dogs! DUH!

Commonsense dictates getting all the locks changed, having a high quality deadbolt and checking that all the doors and windows and garage are secure before you leave the house or go to bed. Also put a piece of wood, like a dowel, that fits the length of the window and sliding door tracks or install window locks. These people are lucky that the intruder wasn't violent or homicidal and the only thing they lost were material goods. Don't they have a Neighborhood Watch program?

strange on many levels. to catch a thief can be harmful and dangerous. Step one when you know you have been burglarized would be some sort of repellant. Fake camera, Alarm sign, etc. These homeowners obviously are victims for a reason. Dont duplicate their actions, get some deter ants.
