Another Car Keyed at Blackhawk Despite New Security Cameras

Blackhawk Police say the plaza installed a security system, but couldn't supply any footage of a recent keying.

No suspect has been identified in recent car-keying at Blackhawk Plaza, despite nearby and newly-installed security cameras in the shopping center's parking lot.

Sometime between 9 and 11 a.m. on October 12, a car belonging to a Crunch Gym member was keyed at the exclusive shopping center located off Camino Tassajara.

While a surveillance DVR system has been installed by the plaza recently, they didn't have any footage to provide officials who were investigating the vandalism, police say.

"Frankly, I don't know why," said Lt. Dan Hoffman, who has been working with the case since early this year.

Blackhawk Management declined to comment as to why there wasn't any footage of the incident, but said the welfare and safety of merchants and patrons was the plaza's top priority.

Before the most recent incident, the last report of keying was in July, making 15 total incidents since January of 2012.

John Kikes, a Crunch Gym member, had three of his cars keyed at the plaza since 2012.
