Alamo Teen Identified as Victim in Fatal Collision on I-680

An 18-year-old San Ramon Valley High School graduate has been identified as the victim in a fatal car crash on Interstate Highway 680 in Danville earlier this month, a Contra Costa County coroner's deputy said today.
 
Margaret "Maggie" Daly of Alamo was fatally injured in a crash on southbound Highway 680 south of the Sycamore Valley Road exit around 10:05 p.m. on April 9, according to the coroner's deputy and California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Creel.

Daly was the passenger in an SUV being driven by a 35-year-old Danville man at the time of the crash, Creel. Witness statements suggest that the driver was attempting to pass traffic in the roadway's right lane and misjudged the gap between his car and a flatbed truck entering the lane from an on-ramp, the officer said.
 
Neither the driver of the SUV or the truck driver were injured in the crash. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor, and the CHP is still investigating whether speed played a role, Creel said.
 
The front of the SUV struck the rear of the truck, causing serious injuries to Daly. She was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where she succumbed to her injuries two days later, Creel said.
