A man killed in a crash on a road near Castro Valley Sunday afternoon has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 25-year-old Geoffrey Mapplebeck, of Danville.
Mapplebeck was driving on Crow Canyon Road, about a mile north of Norris Canyon Road, around 4 p.m. when he was involved in a head-on collision, the California Highway Patrol said.
The road was closed for about two hours while crews investigated and cleared the crash.
