TVLL Wins 2014 District 57 San Bernardino Classic

Behind strong pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting, a team of 14 TVLL Majors players won the 2014 District 57 San Bernardino Classic held at Al Houghton Stadium in San Bernardino from April 25 thru April 27.

For the past 5 seasons, 10 District 57 teams have traveled south for a weekend tournament held at the Little League Baseball Western Region complex.

This is same site that serves as the host each August of the 11-12 year old Western Regional International Tournament, the final step before the LL World Series in Williamsport. The District 57 San Bernardino Classic is designed to give local players a similar experience as those playing the August tournament. TVLL has participated each of the past 5 years, but this is the first year a team has brought the championship flag back to Tassajara Valley.

Our TVLL team posted an overall record of 3-0-1 for the weekend, and each contest was a tight battle. In the opening game of pool play on Friday afternoon, TVLL tied Granada 3-3 in a back and forth contest. In the first game on Saturday, an early morning affair, TVLL beat Canyon Creek 3-1.

The boys then had most of the rest of the day Saturday off, before heading into a late evening pool play game vs Pleasanton- National knowing that a victory would most likely mean a birth in the Sunday championship game. TVLL fell behind early 1-0, but then roared back and posted an 8-4 victory, earning a spot in Sunday's championship. On Sunday, the team battled Pleasanton-Foothill in a tense contest, and once again coming from behind, won the championship with a 5-2 victory.
