WWII, Korean Veterans: Tri-Valley Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon and Danville who passed away recently.

Phyllis “Pete” (Miller) Anderson, 92, passed away October 11, in Spokane, WA, where she resided for only six months in a memory care facility. 

Robert Carl Young, 76, died October 28, 2013, in Biloxi, MS. Mr. Young retired from the United States Airforce after 21 years of service. 

Patricia Anne (Ryan) Base, 82, passed away at St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco on October 8. After relocating to the States in 1956-and a short stay in Denver, Colorado-Pat had a long and successful career with Johns Manville in the City, San Mateo and Pleasanton.

Johnny Burkes, 83, a resident of Pleasanton was born in Yuba City, Ca. moved to Sutter City, Ca. as a child where he met his wife of 65 years Maxine Thatcher and died October 23.

Roberta T. (Cutting) Donnelly, 84, formally of Winchester & Stoneham, passed away while a quartet sang God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch of World Series Game Six on October 30.

Doras Sandvig, a resident of Pleasanton, passed away peacefully of natural causes in her home October 25.

Alan Simmons, 57,  a resident of Pleasanton passed away November 1. Alan worked for Public Storage for the last 18 years in Pleasanton, CA on Stanley Blvd.

June Stangbye/Livingston HULLIN was born February 28, 1921 in Sacramento, California. She died on October 22, a resident of Astoria Gardens in Tracy, with family, Hospice & caregivers at her bedside. If you wish to make a contribution in June's memory donations can be made to the East Bay SPCA, 4651 Gleason Drive, Dublin, CA. 94568, or Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95204.

Frank R Porter, 96, former Walnut Creek resident, passed away October 27 in Peoria, AZ. He was a man of great faith who along with his wife, Clara was an involved member of San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church for almost 30 years. A celebration of Frank's life will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 1:30 PM at San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church, 902 Danville Blvd., Alamo, CA 94507. The family suggests a donation to the music fund of San Ramon Valley UMC in lieu of flowers.

Manuel "Cass" Casagrande passed away peacefully in Alamo in the comfort of his home and his family's love. He served valiantly in World War II in the Army Air Corps where he flew P51's in combat over Normandy, France, and Germany, earning amongst other medals the Distinguished Flying Cross. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of his life on Thursday November 7, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Saint Isidore Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville. Interment will be private.

Sanford A. Cone, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 19 in Danville, CA. First Lt. Cone was a war hero who flew B-24s during WWII on 30 missions over enemy-occupied Continental Europe. A private memorial will be scheduled in Danville California at a later date. 

Robert Joseph Lipscomb formerly of Jackson, MS, passed away Wednesday morning, October 30 surrounded by family and friends. Bob touched many lives with his engaging Southern personality and zest for life. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service in his honor on Friday, November 8th at 6:00pm at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Danville, CA. 

Jeanne Mullally, 95, resident of Danville died October 20. A graduate of Fashion Art School in San Francisco, her loves included Asian art and culture, golf, two husbands, sons Ronald and David and grandson Christopher. 

William (Bill) Rennison, resident of Danville, passed away at the VA Hospital in Martinez at the age of 83. Funeral services will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way in Danville on November 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall.
