Monte Vista Frosh Football Lose to Pitt, 20-7

The Pittsburg High School Freshmen jumped out to a 14-0 lead and a listless and intimidated Monte Vista Frosh team could not recover and lost 20-7 Thursday at Los Medanos College.

Pitt scored on its opening drive by converting 2 fourth and longs, and scored from 12 yards out on a nice run by star Vontez Thompson.  On the first MV possession Pitt stifled the Monte Vista run game and on third and 11, a MV pass fell incomplete.  Pitt scored on its second possession.  After a MV interception, Pitt scored again to expand their lead.

MV played with much better energy in the second half.   A 20-yard bootleg run from QB Erik Krommenhoek made the score 20-7 and the MV Defense began to play with some aggression, holding Pitt on 4th down 3 times in the second half.   The play of  Levi Smyth and DT Matt Kim stood out for MV on defense.

The MV offense struggled all day against a well-prepared Pitt D, the biggest plays from scrimmage was a nice slant pass to #15 "Kelley Tucker" for 17 yards and a  Krommenhoek run of 40 yards on a punt attempt gone awry.

MV's comeback bid was thwarted when Pass Interference was not called deep in Pitt territory when the WR was hit well before before the ball arrived.  MV had its onsides kick team ready to convert, but it did not get the chance....

MV Frosh next game: Amador Valley at MV on September 26th.
