Where Have All The Signs Gone?

This post looks at Save Our Creek's use of yard signs...and how it is tackling sign theft head-on.

If you were driving along the Diablo Road corridor back in the fall of 2010 you may have seen a number of home-made signs drawing attention to the proposed SummerHill Homes housing development for Magee Ranch in Danville.

It was these signs - including the artistic sign at the Diablo Road and Athena School intersection and the “” sign at the McCauley Road/Diablo Road intersection – that were instrumental in driving the first for the SummerHill project. And it was the resulting resident concern, spawned from these signs, which enabled Save Our Creek to truly be born.

Since these early days, Save Our Creek has become more organized.

Last spring professionally printed Save Our Creek yard signs began to appear on properties around Danville and Diablo. But they also quickly disappeared. It seemed that no sooner was a sign put up, than it mysteriously vanished overnight.

And now, with the new and improved “Got Traffic” and "Got Flooding" Save Our Creek signs, the same magical disappearing act seems to be happening all over again.

But, thanks to the ongoing donations from generous local residents, Save Our Creek has plenty of yard signs to go around. As one resident recently said: “Someone took the two yard signs I had [placed] at the corner... Three more will go up this weekend.”
