Say “Yay to the Gray’ the Danville Way

As we close out the month of May, we continue to say yay to the gray every day the Danville way. The senior center has a wonderful new home in the veteran’s memorial building. You enter on 115- E Prospect, and although they have an awning, there is no time for yawning with all the activities they have.

Being a senior does not mean that you’re old, it means that you rank in life. With all your experience and wisdom gained you are not a rookie, nor a sophomore, you are a senior and ready to graduate to the independence that you’ve earned. Part of that is being engaged, healthy and fit. Like a car’s motor, if you don’t take it out for a spin regularly, it can freeze up and no longer work.

On the other hand, what is the sense of having brain power if you don’t use it? Hmm, with the advent of calculators and computers, we depend on technology that does all the thinking for us. We don’t get to use our brain cogs and so it bogs.

That being said, let’s start moving our bodies and minds and you have an opportunity to exercise both at the Danville Senior Center. The town of Danville has a wonderful new program Coordinator Diana Tucker, and the Senior HealthFitness day was a success! You’ll find a wide array of actives that range from day trips, to senior dedicated learning, which includes sessions, classes, games, cooking, culture to culture, dance, enrichment, fitness, health & wellness programs to free screenings. They say you lose what you don’t use, I say use your independence and free time to gain from all the town of Danville and Diana Tucker, the Program Director, has to offer it’s seniors.
