Ladies' Afternnoon Tea, Maserati and Danville

How an invitation to Ferrari Maserati for a Ladies Afternoon Tea becomes a connection to the Concours d'Elegance and an exoctic car that drives me back to Danville.

Recently I was invited by James Todd, sales manager for Ferrari Maserati of San Francisco, to a Ladies’ Afternoon Tea.

It gave new meaning to “High Tea,” as it was a gathering of businesswomen and it was a wonderful success. Since the great wall of income barriers were brought down, it makes sense to invite women to shop in the high-end exotic car market.

Women are no longer barefoot in the kitchen, but barefoot on a beach, moving their toes in the sands of opportunities gained. As a bay area businesswoman, whose community efforts and heart are embraced by Danville, you may wonder why I am blogging about an outside event.

There is a definite correlation. Jim and Chris Edlund, owner's of Christe James Fine Jewelry Works and founders of Danville’s Concours d’Elegance Foundation, of which, Ferrari Maserati of San Francisco are one of the sponsors.

It began in 2004. Danville d’Elegance, highlighted by the Danville Concours d’Elegance, showcased “Cool Cars for a Cause.” It has raised more than $1 Million for Parkinson's research and patient care. This disease personally touched Jim when a family member was diagnosed with it.

As it stands, he’s not alone, with the “majority of those diagnosed with Parkinson's suffering from late-onset (after age 40).” There are “1.5 million Americans age 50 and over have Parkinson's Disease (PD) and the numbers are rising. PD is a chronic, degenerative, neurological disorder affecting both voluntary/ involuntary movement.”

As business owners and business people, we can all help to make a positive difference, like Jim and Chris Edlund of Christe James Jewelry Works who have graciously shown their support of community by donating an auction item at our Veteran's Memorial Pre-Opening Gala.

As for me, I love meeting and greeting all people, volunteering to make a positive difference or interviewing those who already are. For in life and or in business, I never know when someone I meet will serendipitously become a vehicle that drives me back to Danville.

This time it was Ferrari Maserati.

Thank you for this post. As a parent of two at SRVHS and one at Stone Valley Middle School thisRead More whole thing concerns me greatly. I just have not had the time to look into it. My Junior at SRVHS is in the guinea pig class for the new curriculum. The new curriculum started with AP Biology this year and it has been a disappointment. Parents, including myself, really need to educate ourselves on this. I thought this was a State program not a Fed program. Great...
