Danville will have their 5th Relay for Life event this weekend with a Hollywood theme at San Ramon High to Celebrate our Cancer Survivors, Remember those we have lost to Cancer and Fight back against this disease.
Who will YOU relay for on Saturday? I personally will be relaying for my Dad who lost his battle with lymphoma when I was 18. He never had the chance to meet my amazing husband or his grandchildren, he has not be around for more than half of my life and there were so many life experiences I have had I wish I could have shared with him. I will be relaying for my Mom who lost her battle with lung cancer 6 years ago and was not there to attend either of her granddaughters weddings. I relay for my Father in law who lost his battle with prostate cancer 1 1/2 years ago. He was a strong family man and missed the birth of his great-grandchildren last year. I am also relaying for my Aunts,Uncles, cousins and friends who have been touched by cancer. I am thankful I have never had cancer but my life has been changed by cancer.
If YOU have been touched by cancer personally or because a friend or family member has been diagnosed with it please consider attending our Relay for Life event. Registration begins at 8 am on Saturday July 28th. We will be having a continental breakfast for our Survivors at that time until 9:30. Free Survivor t-shirts and a gift bag when you register. Opening ceremony begins at 10 am. Food, music, Zumba and fun throughout the day. Boxcar races, Murder/mystery puzzle event. Luminaria ceremony at dusk which you wont want to miss with a slideshow and lighting of the bags around the track.Midnight pizza and movie played during the walk in the late hours.
You can stay for just the opening ceremony or stay the day, or come back in the evening. We hope you consider staying the entire 24 hours so you can experience what 24 hours in the life of a cancer patient is like. Most importantly we want YOU there.
