New Photos Emerge from the Great 1906 Quake

The San Francisco Municipal Transpiration Agency drops some new photos on the anniversary of the great quake of 1906.

In the early morning, 106 years ago today, a 7.9 earthquake hit San Francisco and nearly shook it too the ground.

The quake hit offshore, about 2 miles from the city, near Mussel Rock in San Mateo County. It rumbled along the San Andreas Fault and the aftermath, both in destruction from the quake and subsequent fires, resulted in more than 3,000 deaths.

On this 106th anniversary of the massive earthquake that hit San Fran and rumbled through the Bay, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency released a number of previously unseen photos from the event.
