Amgen Tour Photos from Patch Readers; Post Yours!

The Amgen Tour, the largest cycling event in the nation, will be in town today and we want you to share your pictures!

The third stage of the Amgen Tour of California gets underway today and it's expected to snake its way through Danville sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The tour will flow along Camino Tassajara, Blackhawk Road, and up Mt. Diablo Scenic Drive, climbing the mountain and exiting out of the north gate into Walnut Creek.

It's sure to be a spectacle.

So, will you be out there? If you are going to be there and if you snap any pictures be sure to send them to us!

You can upload them right into this page by clicking the button "Upload Photos & Videos," you can email them to the Danville Patch editor at terry.parris@patch.com, or you can text them to the editor at 925-413-3537.

C'mon! Let's share!

The other thing to remember is, drivers, be aware: Between this 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., closures will occur along Camino Tassajara, Blackhawk Road and the Mt. Diablo Scenic drive. CHP Officers will close the road in advance of the riders coming north from Livermore and will re-open the roadway once the riders are past. Each section should only be closed off for a short period of time, with the maximum expected to be 20 minutes.

The race continues through Southern California during five more stages, ending May 20 in Los Angeles.

The 2012 Amgen Tour of California is the largest cycling event in the U.S., according to race organizers.

David et al: Here's what the FAA said: "Radar replays show an F18 flew right over DanvilleRead More northeast-bound at 3,500 feet at exactly 10:45, and then started to climb, which would create more noise as the pilot applied more engine power."
