Bullying in the News Again... This Time As Part of the Presidential Campaign!

Bullying is in the news again; the topic became a part of our presidential debate. One prominent candidate is dealing with accusations he participated in pranks over 40 years ago.

Bullying is in the news again; the topic became a part of our presidential debate. One prominent candidate is dealing with accusations he participated in pranks over 40 years ago that one of his fellow schoolmates claims has haunted him all these years.

We're not surprised that the memory has lingered for some who witnessed or took part in the incidents. Bullying can scar a victim for life, or worse -- it can trigger suicide. But even the bullies can end up with memories of remorse that linger.

Our eagerness to prevent that sort of result, for all children, is a key reason I and two other moms designed Everloop.com. As a mom, I want to look out for my own kids, but I also want to foster an environment where all children can feel safe. It is important that kids today have an online home base that is positive and stresses rewards and growth, not punishment. A place where friends can build each other up through likes, praise and suggestions of things that might be of interest. In searching for the best online home base for your child, safety and a culture of positive support are the most important goals.

Children often feel a need to join in with kids who are acting cruelly toward others for fear of not looking cool. At Everloop, kids come on the site knowing they can communicate with friends and make new ones without the fear of the group turning on them. And we as parents know that with this option in their lives, at least their time in cyberspace won't result in horrible memories they carry with them into adulthood.
