From the Town of Danville
Just in time for the beginning of the fall sports season, the artificial turf fields at are reopening this week.
The fields were closed down at the beginning of the summer in order to allow the Town of Danville to carry out the replacement of the aging turf.
The three month project involved removing the original turf, cleaning up and leveling the fields and then putting down and securing the new turf.
Town of Danville Maintenance Services Director Jed Johnson said he was pleased that the project went well and through the diligence and hard work of Town staff was completed on time for the new season.
He also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation they received from all of the various athletic organizations.
“I want to thank all of the user groups for their cooperation and flexibility as we went through this project,” Johnson said. “Now, with the project done we have new fields to enjoy for the next several years.”
