Crisis Chat is New Online Service

Contra Costa Crisis Center is one of six agencies in the nation beta-testing new system.

The Contra Costa Crisis Center is beta-testing a new online system for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

It is one of six pilot programs nationally to pilot the online crisis chat via a method developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The idea is to develop data to show if suicide prevention and crisis intervention can be done effectively online, according to a news release by the Contra Costa Crisis Center.

This supplements 24-hour telephone hotlines the center has to address suicide, child abuse, elder abuse, brief and homeless issues.

For crisis and suicide issues, call 800.273.TALK  or 800.SUICIDE; 888.628.9454 for Spanish; or see the crisis center site online.
